Your Most Popular Entry Page

When we work with clients on making their winery Web sites more "visitor effective,"  one of the things we ask them to find out is their site's "most frequent entry page,"  i.e. where visitors most often begin a visit to the site.  Here's why your home page may not be the place that visitors enter your site.  My favorite quote:

Customer experience is mainly about understanding, and serving, the key unmet needs of the customer.

The worst thing in the world is for someone to come to your site (however they get there, and whatever page they land on) and have them hit the Back button, never to return.  To avoid this, you must understand what need brought a visitor to your site, and whether what they see when they first arrive seems helpful in meeting that need.

Do you know your site's most popular entry page?  Do you know how to find out?  Has it changed over time?
