Why I Won't Be Buying An iPhone (yet)

Many of the omissions (e.g. no cut-and-paste functionality) are correctable with updated software.  But you can't get around the EDGE network connection, which appears to be abysmal.

A usable Internet connection is, to me at least, the primary reason to own this phone, and it appears to fall down badly there.

Another 12-18 months should see this corrected with a new hardware release and more carriers.  EV-DO Rev. A works really well on my laptop, and I'm not ready to trade down.

I found this site through simplicity rules - nice!

Just wanted to mention that the EDGE network is now getting 200kb/s speeds, thanks to some kind of update AT&T did. That is almost 3G level! I use iphone EDGE internet on occasion, and although it's not super fast, it's bearable (compared to before the update, where it wouldn't have been). That's what pushed me over the edge to buy one - i was in your boat about the speed too.
