Following the acquisition, Toolworks changed its name to Mindscape (October 1994), and was sold again in 1997 (not long my departure from the company after 10 years as a employee) to The Learning Company.
In late 1998, The Learning Company was acquired by Mattel for over 3 billion-with-a-B dollars, and following a stunning reversal of fortune, sold off as scrap in 2002, having bec0me a $1 million-a-day money loser for Mattel, effectively ending the corporate career of Jill Barad.
Today, the Mindscape brand is owned by a French publishing company.
Sic transit gloria mundi.
(Update: an earlier version of this post spelled Jill Barad's name as "Jill Barard", which I noticed because this entry got a Google hit from that mispelling)
